Create groups and knockout stages
Set up the competition structure before you make fixtures so teams can move through the tournament correctly.

Open the format page, add the groups first, then add any knockout rounds or finals, and check that the structure matches the tournament you want to run.
Build the tournament format
- Open the format page for your tournament.
- Add the group stage first if teams are starting in groups.
- Choose how many groups you need and how many teams should be in each one.
- Add the knockout stage or finals after that if teams will progress later in the day.
- Save the format before you start assigning teams or creating fixtures.
Check the structure
Checklist
- The number of groups matches the number of teams entering.
